Maintaining a building made easy – Specifying the right flooring
Spectrum’s Kayar Rubber flooring has been selected for the new NDIS head office in Geelong/Victoria. We worked with Architects Woods Bagot on this outstanding project.
This state-of-the-art accessible building, located at the site of the heritage listed Carlton Hotel in Malop Street, will house approximately 600 NDIA staff, centralising the Agency’s national operations. The new office will ensure the entire workforce has the accessible facilities, technologies and work environment they need to continue the important work they’re doing in delivering the NDIS to Australians with disability.
Architects Woods Bagot chose Spectrum’s Kayar 3mm Rubber flooring for all open spaces, kitchen & meal areas and breakout spaces.Spectrum’s Kayar Rubber flooring offers optimal environmental and acoustic qualities. Here are some the benefits of our premium rubber flooring:
- Quietness, resilience and comfort – ideal for healthcare, hospitality, heavy commercial and sports environments
- GECA certified and meets or exceeds ISO, EN standards to ensure high quality
- No formaldehyde, extremely low emissions, no plasticizers (carcinogenic, a more unstable component) or heavy metals (persistent bioaccumulative toxic chemicals)
Our Plan/Sheet System rubber flooring range features a surface treatment that protects the surface, improves performance and reduces cleaning and maintenance.
Minister for Families and Social Services, Paul Fletcher said the building led the way in accessible design and functionality and supported a range of work environments for people of all abilities.
“Almost 12 per cent of NDIA employees identify as having a disability, so this new office will ensure our entire workforce has the accessible facilities, technologies and work environment they need to continue the important work they’re doing in delivering the NDIS to Australians with disability,”
Mr Rob De Luca, former head of the NDIA said:
“The six-level building has a 5 Star NABERS (National Australian Built Environmental Rating System) rating, and our Spectrum Kayar flooring is GECA certified, with extremely low VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) offering this project better indoor air quality, leading to a healthier and happier space.”
When a product is certified against GECA’s Floor Coverings standard, consumers can be sure that the product has been assessed to meet environmental, human health and ethical impact criteria. GECA certification removes doubt and confusion and makes identifying environmentally and socially preferable products easier.
