Froebel Australia are a boutique not-for-profit provider of early education and care services. Froebel partnered with the University of Melbourne to develop, build and operate a new Early Childhood Education and Care Service at the Melbourne Connect Innovation precinct.
The Challenge
With an education vision to holistically embed early STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) learning opportunities in its curriculum, Froebel have a strong focus on inquiry-based STEM, immersive language learning and education for sustainable development.
When they were planning their new centre at the Melbourne Connect Innovation precinct, they sought to ensure that the design of the environment matched and enabled their educational vision. With an emphasis on creating a fun, homely environment consisting of non-instructional and locational learning areas.
The Solution: Spectrum Granito
Having the right flooring solution was instrumental in delivering the project’s potential. Spectrum’s Granito flooring was selected for it’s ready availability (important in supply chain challenged times), sustainability, performance required for healthy indoor environments, and allowed for the creation of both spaces for playing and learning areas with softer comfort via the outstanding acoustic capabilities.
The Spectrum Granito is a smooth 2mm rubber flooring with small multicoloured granules. Engineered to provide comfort underfoot while hosting an acoustic quality of 6db. Its surface treatment provides protection, performance and reduces the need for cleaning and maintenance. There are 24 colours stocked in Australia, some with an R10 slip rating.
